Somm Somm offers classes at every level. Somm Somm also offers wine services. Did you know Shelly hosts wine tasting events for local businesses and can also host virtually for companies anywhere in the world. Or perhaps you’ve been wanting to elevate your next gathering. Shelly will customize the class or tasting to your preference.
Wine Basics
How is wine actually made? What is a grape variety anyway? How do you pronounce “terroir”? If these thoughts have crossed your mind, then the Wine Basics class is for you! Shelly will guide you through the winemaking process as well as the most common grape varieties and growing regions.
During the two-hour class you will taste four different wines. Shelly will teach you how to sniff, swirl, taste, and then talk about what’s in your glass. You’ll leave with a greater appreciation of how that lovely liquid got from vine to your glass and a baseline for how to evaluate what you see, smell, and taste.
Deep Dive into a Specific Wine Region
Whether it be a wine region in Europe, South America or North America there’s always so much to learn. Why not have fun learning at the same time. Oh, and of course you’ll be tasting a selection of wines of the region paired with cheese and small bites.
During this two-hour class, Shelly will share the history of the region, the geology, geography, and climate of the region, as well as current market trends.
